Exchange student motivation letter

Hi, could you help me with my letter.
My mothertongue is finnish so there ought to be some mistakes in my motivation letter.

Motivation letter:
I would like to apply for one semester as an exchange student at x University and study there for the whole autumn of 2014.
I have been studying in y University for almost three years by now. My major is Finance and I am planning to do my minor as an exchange student in x University.

Going abroad and experiencing the time as an exchange student is highly important in my mind. Studying in the local University is obviously amazing change to get to know the local school system a bit, but the whole process from actually getting there and then living abroad really widens your perspective of the world and lets you grow as a person. I think it is important to get out of our comfort-zone from time to time and what would be better way to do that than being an exchange student in a foreign country, especially in a country like Thailand, so different socially and culturally in comparison to our beloved Finland. Experiencing the country isn’t the only benefit of being an exchange student, as I am looking to forward to meeting people from all over the world and getting to know other students with different kind of backgrounds.

I have always been interested in Thailand and generally in the whole spectrum of Asian culture. Ever since my first visit to Thailand in 2003 I have been longing to go back there and experience the way of life in Thailand. Thailand’s on the whole is very interesting, from the Buddhist religion to Thailand’s national sport Thai boxing and the tourism. As a mixed martial artist I am highly interested in learning more about Thai boxing and the history behind it. Thailand is one of those countries you must visit and learn the art of Thai boxing in order to become more skilled and well-rounded combat sport athlete. I am certain that I will be able to meet some inspirational figures and masters teaching this sport and its’ secrets in Thailand.

I chose x University because I have few friends that went there and loved the whole experience, the people and the school. It appears that there is lot of other exchange students in x University, so it would be easy to get to know to other foreign students as well. As I stated in the beginning of my letter, I will do my minor subject abroad. I am very interested in the courses of BA in Entrepreneurship and BA in Business English subjects. Being and entrepreneur has always been a dream of mine and courses from the Entrepreneurship would increase my courage to start a new business in the future as I would get more knowledge on being an entrepreneur. It goes without saying that courses from Business English would be very important for anyone in this age of globalisation but for me especially as I am planning to work abroad after my studies in y. Especially courses like IEN 303 English for Finance and Economics and IEN 306 English for Entrepreneurs would be a high priority in my study plans.

For my whole life I have been interested in living in other countries mostly because of my aunt who left Finland at the age of 18 to start a new life in USA. Now that I have a chance to experience the same in a minor scale, I definitely will not let this window of opportunity pass me by.
