Excessively distant (definition for 'too far')

Hi teachers,
Would 'excessively distant' be an appropriate definition for 'too far' in the following paragraph?
Let’s go to that island, the one with the trees on it. We can have our picnic there. It isn't too far (excessively distant).

Thanks in advance.
