Except

Hi,

I know that we use "except" + "for" after nouns.And without "for" after prepositions.

How about "except+from"?

Does it exist?

In my opinion, there is no such a construction(except+from) but there are many sentences where except from are written. Ex: The were no letters from my friends except from Jim who... We used to draw little attention except from(of) our chief....
