Are they correct:

I would prefer to make a copy than take this whole book home.

I would prefer to make a copy rather than take this whole book home.

I would prefer to make a copy to taking this book home.

--- I would prefer to have gerund in the 2nd part of the sentence.

When making a comparison, it is good style to have all the parts in the same gammatical form. I would prefer to make a copy than to take this whole book home. (yours was OK, but repeating the infinitive particle makes it a bit clearer) I would prefer to make a copy rather than to take this whole book home.
