Exact drama

Hi

Anytime we feel slighted, take things personally, worry that we don't "measure up", or become fixated on things like the idea that our partner "doesn't love us enough", we are mistaking our egos for Who We Really Are. This is of course nothing to be ashamed of. It's just the way it often seems to go. I suspect that even the most enlightened among us are not entirely immune. And, on the bright side, it's often the catalyst for the exact drama that has the potential to teach us precisely what we most seem to need to learn at any given time.

Does it say that this kind of behavior has the potential to teach us something valuable and this is positive in all this? I'm not sure what the author means by "it's the catalyst for the exact drama ...".

Yes, that's the idea. Taking things personally may lead to a confrontation that actually makes us realize something about ourselves, even though the confrontation may be unpleasant for us or the other person.
