Ex-mother-in law OR ex mother-in-law?

ex-mother-in law OR ex mother-in-law?

My ex-mother-in-law (or: ex mother-in-law) causes me a lot of grief.
I think it's 'ex-mother-in-law'. Am I right?

Thanks.

I see both used but I agree with you. I would write ex-mother-in-law.

I call mine my "mother-in-ex." It's not the real phrase, but it works.
