How can "yesterday" be taken as "soon"?? How is a word about the past related to immediacy?

As already noted, it's just a figure of speech. Don't take it literally!

TakaShe wants to do everything yesterday
It means that she wants everything to be done today, not tomorrow. (Today is a yesterday of tomorrow.)

I don't really agree with this explanation. I think "yesterday" is used in a deliberately impossible way, for effect.

GPY, how do you think impossibility is related to immediacy? Do you mean it's so soon that it can even be seen as impossible?

You cannot "do something yesterday", but if you could then it would be "sooner" than doing it immediately.
