Grammar

Everything else or anything else

Please help! Tell me which of the variants is correct here

People like cars more than anything else
People like cars more than everything else

Is that possible to find both variants being used correct here? Maybe there are English teachers here to tell me what variant is more correct from the literary point of view of the grammar .Thanks a lot!

Hello, Anabelle. Welcome to the forums. They are both possible, but "everything" would require special circumstances, and I can't even think of one right now.

If a writer chose "everything" there, I'd ask myself why, and that makes it an inferior word because I'd have been distr

the point is that I was to complete the empty spaces in the text, choosing the right variant and here I was puzzled about the right variant. "Everything" or "anything".....the text was all about the cars...well, thank you!! Unfortunately, I'm afraid I made a mistake here, writing "everything", even though I knew that "anything else" is a more common combination used.
