Everything but the kitchen sink..

Are these sentences sound grammatical and natural? If they aren't, how can I make them sound natural?

1. He made a plan including everything but the kitchen sink; however at the end of the day it came unsuccessful /it fell through.

2. I know that he brought everything but the kitchen sink. But he can't find that things which are needed right now.
