Everyone is happy except / except for me.

Hi again teachers!

Please check the sentences below and tell me which are grammatical and sound natural.


1. Everybody is happy except me

2. Everybody is happy except for me.

3. The room is empty except me.

4. The room is empty except for me.

5. The vacation was great except the rain.

6. The vacation was great except for the rain.

Michelle Cha2. Everybody is happy except for me.
Yes
Michelle Cha3. The room is empty except me.

Not really. This doesn't feel natural, although normally 'except' and 'except for' can be used interchangeably.
