Every Wednesday evening and Wednesday evenings

Hi. Please help. I think we can use the phrase "every Wednesday evening" or "Wednesday evenings" to note when something happens routinely.

He goes to the health club every Wednesday evening.
He goes to the health club Wednesday evenings.

But I think we can't use the phrase "Wednesday evening" to denote the same.

He goes to the health club Wednesday evening.

Aside from describing something that happens repeatedly, if we write, "He will go to the health club (on) Wednesday evening,"

I think it means he will go to the health club this upcoming Wednesday evening. Also, I think the word "on" in parentheses is optional. Thank you for your help in advance.

It depends on the context. He goes to the health club Wednesday evening can mean a routine if the context makes that the evident choice.
