Grammar

Every time + a regular event at present + (the) next day ...

Greetings.

My own sentences:

(1) Every time John drinks too much alcohol next day he has a headache. — incorrect

(2) Every time John drinks too much alcohol the next day he has a headache. — correct

(3) Every time John drinks too much alcohol the following day he has a headache. — correct

Am I right about the correctness of the sentences? If not, then why not?

Thanks.
