I clear / It clears that my book was stolen by Mr. X.

I made it clear that my book was stolen by Mr. X.

I want to clarify to you that you have made a big mistake.

Do not be too much pedantic in spoken English, otherwise, people will get angry with you.

I have understood the gist of/theme of the matter what he has said, but I can't quite understand it.

She said that in Bob's house some tragedy had happened, so I need to enquire of Bob to know what's the matter.
