Every now and then etc?

Hi! everyone I actually know the meaning of words like"occasionally, now and then,so often and once in a while" butt I become confuse when I see these "every now and then, every so often" What do these mean?
For example in these sentences,
1-We walk in the garden every once in a while.
2-We go to movies every so often.
Thanks!

Thanks! for answering Philip. Actually I want to know the difference between once in a while,so often and every once in a while, every so often.
