Every

Sir,

We use each and every in same senetence like

The blood carry oxygen to each and every part of the body.

Why "each and every" has been used? We can simply use "each part of the body" or "every part of the body".

1.The blood carry oxygen to every part of the body.

2.The blood carry oxygen to each part of the body.

Thanks.

'Each and every' is a stock phrase (and a redundant one) used to stress the complete coverage of the body by the circulatory system. We have other similar redundancies: 'all and sundry', 'every single', 'one and all'.
