ever as a kid

Many months went by as Pandavas continued their stay in that forest. Meanwhile, Hidimba gave birth to a son who was christened "Gatotakacha'. He was as mighty as his father Bheema. As Gototakacha was son of a demoness mother, he looked like a grown up young man ever as a kid.

Could you tell me why "ever" has been used here?

User_gary he looked like a grown up young man ever as a kid. To me, this is a rare and unusual usage. Normally, it would mean he remained always a kid, but that doesn't fit the context.

  • It surely can't mean that he looked ever as a kid, because it says he looked like a grownup.
  • I can only guess that it means he looked like a grownup during the entire time that he was actually a kid.
