Event

is this right that 'event' means special things such as party for a day?

in Korea, in Asia, near to China, we use the word 'event' in situation that we have our friends, girl friends enjoy it and pleased with what I prepared as special things for a day,

especially when man propose to an woman and say "would you marry me?"

can use this 'event' in this situation?

is that right usage?

and does 'event' means like this??
