In the first sentence, is even though correctly used? Is the sentence correct and syntax good?

His son is being bullied at school even though his father doesn't like it. Just because his father doesn't like it doesn't mean it's going to stop. He need to take action.

It's patently obvious that if his father has not made any kind of move to express his feelings, he's not going to have any effect on the situation.

It's like saying "The rain kept poring down even though John wished it would stop." It's illogical.
