I think most style guides advise you to drop a comma in short sentences like yours unless the order of the clauses is reversed:

Thanks for your explanation and corrections. But, by the way, isn't straight up correct in the sentence: "We didn't straight up the room even though it was a mess" ? Because straight up is a synonym of tidy up, isn't it?
