I never wanted to join the army, even less now that you've described how things work in the army plus some are a competitive spirit. What does the bold part mean? And who or what does 'some' refer to?

Some refers to people. Some people have competitive spirit which I don't appreciate.

Is the sentence correct? If so which word do I choose?
I never wanted to join the army, even/much less now that you've described how things work in the army.

Can you say that someone has a competitive spirit or people have competitive spirit?

Have a nice day
