Grammar

Even

Background:
You receive a message. It's written in a language that your computer doesn't support. You can't understand anything.

1) "I can't understand what you wrote, not even read it"
2) "I can't understand what you wrote, even not read it"

Which one is the correct? Thanks

Well, (1) is correct with respect to the placement of 'even', but it should really be rewritten as:

"I can't understand what you wrote; I can't even read it."

I can't even read what you wrote let alone understand it!

Thanks for the help and general question:
Why it(even) actually comes before the verb (but the point of how it sounds)?
I mean what's the grammatical rule for its place in a sentence? Thanks
