Evaluating Task 2 writing in Ielts

Some people say it is more important to plant trees in the open spaces in towns and cities than to build more housing. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

We are now living in the industrial era with the expansion of human population. Certain people might think that it is vital to create more green areas by planting trees instead of building houses or offices. In my opinion, I strongly agree that this idea could benefit our natural surroundings and increase biological diversity.

The most important point is that our city now has to face several types of pollution, especially air pollution and growing trees is the best way to deal with this negative problem. One possible reason is the photosynthesis of trees could eradicate tons of carbon dioxide emission and bring more oxygen to our atmosphere. Moreover, we all perceive that air pollution is the major reason leading to several health problems and only by having more natural filters like trees, do we have a fresh atmosphere to protect our health.

Another point of view is that we could maintain biology by creating more natural habitats in cities, which used to be invaded and eradicated by urbanization. This is because there is more and more extinction from different types of animals due to losing their natural home or their food source. For example, there used to be a diversity in bird types in urban areas, but when people decide to cut plants and build houses, they tend to lose their nest and they have to fly to other places, where it is not appropriate to them and then some of them have to face extinction consequently.

Conclusively, I am of the opinion that it is critical to revise biological habitat by enhancing the number of trees or natural parks in the city, which will also contribute to the process of diminishing air pollution in urban areas. If we proceed right now, our city in the future will still be a better place for living and enjoying life.
