etc, et al, i.e., e.g.

Can the stop after 'etc', et al' be omitted midsentence?

Should i.e. and e.g. take full stops followed by a comma?

We tend not to use such periods in BrE, but it is customary to use a comma before and after them. e. I don't like the appearance of ie.

What I didn't understand was that your personal choice is not to use periods in i.e. That means you like ie. But then you said that you didn't like the appearance of ie (without the periods).

Sorry. That was a mistake that I have now corrected. I have also deleted a couple of your posts and mine that are now irrelevant.

You did nor offend at all. I made a slip that very understandably confused you.
