Etc. at the end of a sentence but inside parenthesis

i know you do not add an extra period if you end a sentence with etc.
but what if it is inside parenthesis ending the sentence? example:

I went to the store to pick up some stuff for the beach (towels, hamburgers, etc.).

or

I went to the store to pick up some stuff for the beach (towels, hamburgers, etc.)

which one is correct?
