Essentially speaking VS strictly speaking

Hi

Would you say that essentially speaking and strictly speaking carry the same meaning?

A- You'd met him only twice before your  marriage?
B- Yes -- and very briefly.
A- So you married a stranger?
B- Strictly speaking, yes/Essentially speaking, yes.

No. In fact, I can't even assign a coherent meaning to 'essentially speaking'. What would it mean 'to speak essentially', 'to speak in an essential way'? I don't get it.

B --Technically speaking, yes/Strictly speaking, yes.
