Essential or Non-Essential?

Hi all,

I have a question on which of these two sentences is correct.

1) I will develop myself both professionally and socially.

2) I will develop myself, both professionally and socially.

Should there be a coma before both? Does it depend on whether "both professionally and socially." is essential?

Thank you in advance.

Hi, I see no real difference, except a small degree of emphasis. If spoken, a pause would let the listener reflect briefly on the part of the sentence that has just been said. Clive
