Topic: Universities and colleges are now offering qualifications through distance learning from the Internet rather than teachers in the classroom. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages?
In the technological development era, it is true that online learning courses play an important role in schooling. While there are some benefits of this trend, I would argue that the drawbacks are much more significant.
On the one hand, the advantages of distance learning educational programs are varied. First of all, it helps students to maintain process of studying. The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic is outstanding example because thanks to many online learning platforms such as Zoom, Skype and so forth, all of the learners can be able to broaden their knowledge. Secondly, this advancement bring out a good chance for students develop many skills. Insteading of having the guidance of teachers in conventional classrooms, learners must have found information involved their subject by themselves, therefore, developing independent study habit.
On the other hand, I suppose that the downsides of learning online would eclipse those analyzed advantages. One of the most disadvantageous side is that it reduce effectiveness of student learning. In fact that youths and teenagers are easily distracted when using laptop browse other websites which are not relevant to course contents instead of focusing on gaining knowledge. In addition, less directly interact between students and lecturer compared to traditional classrooms. By engaging face to face with teachers, learners can have more opportunities to grasp of lessons and improve their level of academic performance.
In a nutshell, although online learning courses have many benefits, I strongly believe that its disadvantages overpowering the advantages of itself.
