Essay on Harry Potter

Hello there! Does anyone wants to verify my essay? Here it is!

When you say ‘Harry’, I say ‘Potter!’. Harry Potter. The Boy Who Survived. You must have been living in a closet for ten years, just as Harry himself, if you have never even heard of that name.

In this essay I am going to tell you something about one of the greatest books ever written: the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. Why should you absolutely read them?

In our new digital world with computers, televisions, playstations and nintendos nearly no one ever thinks about grabbing a book. Does your schoolteacher tells you that you have to read ‘High Fidelity’ for your reading file? Hilarious, what a comedian! We’ll watch the movie.

I think that everyone who is thinking this way is missing something out. Reading a book is not comparable with watching a movie, because when you read a book, your imagination will be appealed. In your head you can give the bad guy the face of your stupidest teacher and the prins(es) charming the face of your lover. I can assure you that the story will become much more interesting this way! When you are watching a movie, everything is already filled in for you. Your imagination will be neglected and that is a pity, because having an imagination is one of our greatest properties.

I like the Harry Potter books a lot because they are very well written. J.K Rowling uses a lot of humor and she describes the events very accurate. Even though she describes so accurate, she also leaves a lot to your imagination. Rowling puts your ideas into the right direction, but your own fantasy has to make it ‘to a movie’ in your head. I think that is really cool.

The main character, Harry Potter, is very courageous. He is a wizard. Every book is practically about him saving his friends or about him getting out of dangerous situations. This might sounds boring, but it isn’t. Rowling brings it to you in a very special way.

Harry Potter is particular because he survived a massacre, which every ‘normal’ person would never survive. Eventually it turns out that it all has to do with love. His mother sacrificed her life for him and because of that he has a special ‘protection’ in his blood. I don’t want to spoil the plot, so I am not telling you too much about the content of the books.

I hope that I have convinced you to read one of JK Rowling’s Harry Potters. A new world will open at your feet, I can assure you that. Forget about the playstations!

Maybe you discover that you also have magical power, wouldn’t that be great? Maybe you’ll become the new Uri Geller! Wouldn’t that be marvelous?

I just want to tell you one more thing: never use the spell ‘avada kedavra’. It’s really evil.
