Topic: Some people say that in our modern age, it is unnecessary to teach children about the skills of handwriting. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Reading and writing are the integral parts of obtaining education. Some people are of the view that children should not be taught about the skills of handwriting in the current era. I completely disagree with this.

When pupils write anything on a paper or handbook, they learn it well. This is because at the time of writing, they consciously or subconsciously remember it. Even though numerous schools want children to use computers or laptops in classes, many teachers still emphasize the use of writing so that pupils can grasp the concept and memorize it. By doing this, students take interest in the subject as they understand it. Many mathematics teachers of primary schools, for example, want their students to write the formulae since they would be able to understand and learn them.

Another reason of teaching handwriting skills to children is that their cognitive skills would be improved significantly. That is to say that their mental ability to grasp lessons increases significantly and their thinking perspective changes to a great extent. As a result, they memorize lessons with the help of their mental development. It is reported that secondary school students of many developing countries, for instance, perform better in exams than their peers of developed countries. The reason is most students of developed nations use laptops and iPads in class.

In conclusion, while technology has changed the way children are taught, I think it is essential that they learn the handwriting skills. The primal reasons are: they would be mentally strong and learn the concepts well.
