On Choosing Careers
Career takes the long and splendid period of time in our lives. The jobs we do are not simply for food and money, but bring us the feeling of achievement and even the meaning of existing.
Some parents believe that it is necessary for them to determine their children’s career life, while children insist that the determination should be hold in their own hands.
However, in my opinion, good decisions rely on the communication and mutual trust between children and parents. Parents should trust their children and offer advices but not commands; they should provide their children a safe environment where children can test their hypothesis about career and themselves. Children should be aware of their limitations and learn to take their own responsibilities. With trust and communication, the decision will be made cooperatively, and only better outcomes are what we can expect.
