Essay: My favorite book character

Hi there! I'd really thankful, if you check my essay.

Howard Roark

A couple years ago, my university friend advised me to read a quite famous book, and famous especially among students, called “The Fountainhead”. This book was written by Ayn Rand, which novels have as many haters as fans. And for me, it’s one of my favorite books.

Two main characters of this novel, Howard Roark and Peter Keating, are both architects, but their fates went on very different roads. Howard, who gave up his education and started working on his own projects, is a protagonist of the novel. He believed in individualism and can’t stand following foundations. Another character, Peter, former class mate, after his education began working in a famous and succeed company. But he was just a nice performer, and all his project was products of early, old trends, or stolen from other creators, among which is Howard.

Howard have created modern building, struggled with old establishments and had not much orders. In contrast, Peter became very famous soon after ending of his education and have build a great deal. But why reader fells a sympathy for Howard while reading the novel? The answer is that Howard really liked that he did. He was Creator, Fountainhead. Peter, despite his great success, didn’t even feel a satisfaction from his work.

Nevertheless, history remembers people such Howard more than Peter, although after their deaths. They will remain in our hearts as peoples, who had spent their life in persistent battle for truth.
