Essay for CAE please need your help

Good afternoon. I would mostly appreciate if somebody could check my essay and provide me with his/her opinion. The essay is written as a writing part 1 for CAE certificate(C1). Thank you in advance.

You attended a meeting at the town hall to discuss which businesses should be given tax incentives to come and open in the town. You have made the notes below:

Which businesses should be given tax incentives to open here?

• New supermarket
• Heavy industry
• Modern IT companies

Some opinions expressed during the meeting:

"Do we have people who can work in IT companies?"

"Let's not give incentives to those who would pollute!"

"What we don't need is yet another shop!"

Write an essay, discussing two of the companies in your notes. You should explain which company would help the local economy most, giving reasons in support of your answer.

Since last year the local government has been discussing which types of enterprises should they support with financial donations. For me personally two winning sectors have emerged. The first one being IT and the second one being heavy industry. Both of them would be beneficial, however there are enough finances just for one of them.

Heavy industry would solve some of the town´s problems, specifically weak economy and high unemployment. Latest market movements indicate that the demand for products which are manufactured by these factories is being on the rise. Furthermore, investors, who have previously proposed their plans to the authorities, have guaranteed that they would be able to create approximately 1000 new jobs. On the contrary stimulating these establishments is bound to greatly harm the environment because of the emission output, which would be increased significantly.

On the other hand, IT is showing itself to be a safer choice. Being one of the most successful fields in the last decades, it should not damage the nature around the town. More than that, it might be able fully solve city´s financial crisis and transfer it to the modern urban area. Unfortunately the populational statistics outlines that there are not many qualified workers and this sector will not have sufficient number of employees.

Taking into account the outcome of the statistical research I believe that the heavy industry would be a better solution for the town.
