What would you do if you had to choose if abortions are right or wrong? Would you side just because your friends go one way or would you decide on your own and make the right choice for you? Abortions can be a confusing stressful choice to make. Abortions seem to have pros and cons in many minds but one out weights more than the other.
Abortion is the choice a person can make when they don’t want to continue pregnant or keep the child. When an abortion is given it is a procedure where the embryo or fetus is taken out of uterus to stop the baby from developing any longer in the mothers womb. Abortions have been legal since 1967. It can be legally available up to twenty-four weeks of pregnancy but if a disability is diagnosed it is legal up to the due date.
There are certain ways of abortion due to the months pregnant a person is. Vacuum aspiration or suction termination is done between seven to fifteen weeks. This is a procedure when doctors use a suction to take the fetus from the womb. Late medical abortions are performed when a person is thirteen weeks pregnant. This abortion is almost like having a miscarriage. Another procedure performed at fifteen weeks is called Surgical dilation and evacuation. This procedure consists of a person being under a general anesthetic. The cervix is stretched and forceps and suction tube are used to remove the fetus. When a person becomes twenty to twenty-four weeks pregnant there are two options to abort the baby a Surgical two-stage abortion or a medically induced abortion. A surgical two0stage abortion consists of stopping the heartbeat of the fetus in stage one. And stage two consists of removing the fetus and the tissue around it which would happen on day two at the hospital. Medically induced abortions are given with the used of a drug to make the womb contract. A person would stay awake during these contractions which can last up to twelve hours. After this surgical dilation and evacuation can be used. you will remain awake during the procedure and may be given medicines to control the pain.
Abortions can make a person feel relief, happy and stress free. In the issue of a crisis pregnancy an abortion can seem like the only way to deal with the crisis to some people. A lot of times abortions are a woman’s choice. According to the Guttmacher Institute statistics show that 98% of abortions are related to a woman’s choice, .3% are related to rape, .03% are related to incest, and .2% is related to the protection of mother. Also the Centers for Disease control state that woman ages 20-24 are having more abortions then any other age group. Abortions can also help a person to not become financially unstable.
Abortions can also be negative to a woman’s health. Abortions can cause a lot of medical problems later in life including ectopic pregnancies. And the chance of miscarrying and pelvic inflammatory disease also increases. Now that abortions are legal some insist to have unprotected sex and just decide if they get pregnant they can just abort the baby. Abortions can also cause very extreme emotional stress and pain. Abortion side effects can also lead to death. The side effects after the abortion can cause excessive bleeding, and sever abdominal pain. One abortion can also cause a woman to never be able to give birth again. Psychological side effects are also caused. Depression, sexual dysfunction, eating disorders, and drug abuse are among the many psychological effects. After an abortion a woman male feel anger and isolate themselves from others. They can also suffer anxiety attacks and become very confused.
Well in my opinion I believe abortion should not be legal to an extent. If the woman is able to care for the child ad financially support the child then yes abortion should be illegal. I also think a person should only abort one time if it is terribly necessary unless it interferes with complications of the pregnant woman. Rape and complications should be the only reason to get an abortion more than once. The financially stable issue can only go so far because I feel that if a person is grown enough to get pregnant without using protection then the woman should have the baby. Another excuse is the father isn’t around so they didn’t want to have a child with no father figure. I am a single mother of a beautiful four year old son and I will tell you I feel great to know I choose to take care of my son. In my eyes I am the mother and father figure in his life. I believe that there is plenty of people out there that are not able to reproduce and if someone chooses not to have their child they should give it up for adoption so that the people who cannot have kids get a blessing, I understand when people say they already have enough kids but why keep reproducing then why don’t people get their tubes tied that way they don’t have to worry about abortions. I know that people are entitled to their own opinion but in my eyes abortions should not be used as a remedy for safe sex. I also believe it is wrong to abort a child because the child is going to have a disability or a informality. A disabled kid is still a human being in my eyes and they all deserve a chance at life, In most cases us taxpayers are the ones who end up paying for abortions and I believe that is just crazy. If a person wants an abortion they should have to pay for it unless it is a situation of rape or complications with the mother of the child. I know that some people are not capable of caring for a child but there is someone in this world who is and wants to care for one so give them a chance at caring.
