As the number of people who live in cities continues to increase, the number of who are raised in cities also has increased. Some people believe that raising a child in a large city brings many advantages. Meanwhile, other people claim that it has many drawbacks for the development and welfare of children.

Discuss both views and provide your opinion.

In recent decades, people who live in urban areas continually increase, as a result, children who are matured in the city has also grown than never before. Some people argue that children growing up in urban environments would have a large number of benefits for their development. However, it cannot be denied that it also has many negative sides to their maturity in the long term.

According to the advantages of raising in the cities, it is true to say that children may have better opportunities to compare with those who live in rural areas. Firstly, there are often better qualified educational systems in urban environments. For instance, well-known universities, schools at international levels or other quality educational centers are normally located in metropolitan areas. Secondly, an increase in the number of city dwellers in recent years means that there will have more chances for children to experience diverse environments such as cultural exchange, for example. In fact, because of cultural mix, children in modern cities may know at least a second language.

In contrast, proponents of city lives claim that children would not have an experiential relationship with nature. For instance, a city with all the amenities may cause the loss of their appreciation the beauties of nature such as mountains, waterfalls, forests, and other forms of natural environments. Furthermore, one disadvantage is that it may lead to a significant number of health problems in the long term. This is caused by the pollution in big cities that may affect children’s health in the future because their immune systems are not properly developed than adults.

In conclusion, a raising of children living in the cities is greatly beneficial to their future development. However, it also can be detrimental in several ways. In my opinion, that children should seek to develop in urban environments because it can bring steady opportunities for their education and self-development in the future.
