Hi everyone, I'm supposed to write an argumentative essay and I'm not completely sure with articles and some collocations. Could you please have a look and maybe pointed out some mistakes, incomprehensibilities or weird collocation? Thank you very much for every response!
Positive Benefits of Physical Activity during University Studies
For many students, the exam period is extremely stressful time of a year. It seems that walls of the university buildings are built of stress rather than bricks. Nervousness is omnipresent and everyone is under a great deal of pressure. Subsequently, many of us find hard to cope with tense situations, which may lead to physical and mental problems as obesity or depression. According to my opinion, a solution is fairly simple: put your boots on and go for a run or simply be out in the fresh air.
It is apparent that many students find difficult to take some time out of their daily schedule than to actually go to a gym or dance class. For instance, students think they must spend every moment studying rather than spend thirty minutes walking or jogging. But keeping fresh and energised doesn’t require a lot of time and effort. Also, many people simply aren’t interested in sport and active life. You don’t have to be a fan of sweating in order to run five miles, but still have plenty of options available, as martial arts or dance.
Another way to live fit life are physical classes during university studies. There has been a lot of arguments whether it should be compulsory or mandatory and everyone is of different opinion. Undeniably, there are significant positive effects upon developing regular exercising habits. Every semester, I always sign up for a class of squash, which has always been my favourite sport. The attendance is compulsory so I simply have to attend classes, which subsequently helps me to control the regular amount of exercise I get. Personally, it also helps me to increase my academic performance. According to Angela Balding who led on of the studies which found a clear connection between sporting actively and academic success, it’s because of the bigger amount of oxygen getting to the brain. Taking a swimming or jogging class may be the first step to acquire a daily habit and find a way to cope with challenging stressful situations.
Understandably, not everyone might want to exercise on a daily basis, but once students prepare for exams, they seek welcome opportunity to relieve stress. One of the possibilities is an extracurricular activity. Last year I went jogging with students of same age who were gathering near the university to have a run around Pardubice. These groups bring together those who share the same interest, but are otherwise completely different. I felt much more reenergised and determined after every run, not to mention I met so many interesting people. Extracurricular activity also gives you something better to do than just starring at the wall to have a rest from studying. Besides, once you need to quit for any reason, you just stop participate.
It’s easy to excuse the lack of physical activity when you have seemingly much more important thigs to do – studying, homework, part-time job. Personally, I do have all these responsibilities as well, but once I included physical activities to my schedule at least three times a week I’ve developed a regular habit. It’s important to keep a balance between schoolwork, extracurricular activities, job, social life and health. Everyone seems to prioritise the health so why is the relationship between health and active life so underrated?
