Thirteen year old Lidia has never felt like she belonged. Her parents don't appreciate her and mostly ignore her. Her friends are never there for her when she needs them most. One day Lidia is searching on the internet for something to cheer her up when she finds a pen pal site. Lidia scrolls through the candidates and picks a girl nicknamed brightlight. When she instant messages brightlight she finds out just how much they have in common. Lidia's friendship with her online pal gives her the courage to make friends in her own world, and discover her own talents.
