Some people think that museums should be enjoyable places to entertain people, while others believe that the purpose of museums is to educate. Discuss both views and give you own opinion.

People have different views about whether museums should serve as entertaining or educational places. While museums need to be amused to attract visitors, I believe that education should be the main goal.

On the other hand, I can understand why people want their museum visits to be enjoyable. Visitors usually seek a good time and unforgettable memory rather than an academic atmosphere when coming to the museum. For example, parents might take their children to museums after work as an opportunity to bond together instead of teaching them a lesson. Additionally, museums should be attractive to make people engage in studying about the past, especially the youth who are easy to get bored. By giving cheerful experiences, museums could build a connection between visitors and historical artifacts around, which motivates them to explore further.

On the other hand, I would argue that museums should priorities the learning aspects of their functions. As a place to display important events in the past, museums should be taken seriously and institutionally to respect history. Furthermore, students and researchers could use museums as a great source for studying other than textbooks. For instance, it would be better for children to see the artifacts in real life and relate it to what they have been taught in school. Finally, people might not appreciate the value of history and museums would lose their importance if education is not embraced.

In conclusion, although enjoyment could draw the public’s attention to museums, I believe that the priority of museums should focus on educating people.
