Essay about controlling noises - IELTS Task 2

Some people think that there should be some strict controls about noise. Others think that they could just make as much noise as they want. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

People have different views with regard to the question of whether noise should be controlled by law or not. While there are some benefits to having noise under regulation, I believe that we should feel free to produce noise as long as it does not bother anyone.

On the one hand, I can understand why people want to put noise under control. The first clear reason is that the increasingly negative impact of noise pollution from human activities on other animals' habitats. For example, whales have recently suffered from misunderstanding navigation due to noises coming from nearby fishing boats and booming tourism. In addition, there are some places required to be absolutely quiet and order, especially those involved in medication and healing. Noises may cause distraction to a lot of high-focused tasks which people feel necessary to get rid of it.

On the other hand, I would argue that we should have the right to express ourselves without being restricted. Firstly, it is impossible for governments to force every person to stop making noise. For instance, I can imagine that people are arrested because they played their songs too loud. Secondly, the regulation may cause resentment and hatred in communities as they feel less freedom. Finally, as those controls do not bring about significant benefits apart from reducing noise pollution, it can be considered as a waste of time and money.

In conclusion, although many people prefer the idea of noise controls, I think that people should not be restricted to make noises.

P/s: Thank you in advance. I appreciate it.
