People have different views about whether or not celebrities could use their voices to raise awareness of global issues. While there are some disadvantages of having famous people involved, I believe that the idea of using fame for good purposes should be encouraged.
On the one hand, people can find celebrities lessen the seriousness of the problems for some reasons. The first suggestion is that famous people may use voluntary acts as opportunities in order to polish their images in the public’s eyes instead of truly caring for the issues. Therefore, celebrities would gain more attention from the press and the admiration of communities. Additionally, it is possible that people are seemingly interested in their idols rather than the meaningful messages these organizations are trying to convey. For example, fans enjoy watching singers’ performances and may feel unnecessary to be serious about the problems.
On the other hand, there are many reasons why famous people could support worldwide aid organizations. First, celebrities may act as role models for fans to follow in terms of contributing to society. For instance, people might be willing to use public transportation more often since their favorite idols do it regularly. Second, it would be efficient to utilize big platforms from online stars, such as YouTubers, to inform people about the ongoing problem as it will reach more audiences. Finally, famous people can make a significant impact on their fan's awareness by constantly advocating for global issues in their works and daily life.
In conclusion, although making people focus on international problems by the popularity of a person may have adverse effects, I believe that celebrities could motivate their followers to save the world.
