In reality, tourism has become an important income for developing countries and contributed a great deal to the economy of developed countries as well. However, it has caused a lot of severe damage which had a negative effect on the local environment, people living in there and so on. To learn more about these points, let’s consider what the benefits and drawbacks of tourism to tourist areas are.
First and foremost, it cannot deny that tourism makes more money for the country especially the tourist areas of both developing and developed countries, which can be used to contribute the GDP or employment. For example, with a great nature and culture, Sa Pa, which is located to the Northwest of Viet Nam, is one of the best places for domestic tourists and foreigners to enjoy. The number of visitors has increased rapidly and the total revenue from tourism of Sa Pa in 2016 reached 12818 thousand USD which has reduced poverty strongly and created the conditions for the unemployed.
On the other hand, we could observe that it also has some drawbacks affecting the climate, environment, habitats, and traditions of the local. For instance, the weather in Sa Pa or Da Lat has been getting hotter recently because of the increasing number of tourists, vehicles, buildings, and above all, deforestation. In the past few years, the difference between the high and low temperature in Da Lat is from 8 to 10 degree Celsius, but now it has risen to 12 to 15 degree Celsius, which causes many serious problems to the environment there.
In conclusion, there are upsides and downsides to tourism. Therefore, each country should have an accurate policy about the exploitation of the tourism industry to avoid unexpected situations and make tourists feel fresher and more comfortable whenever they come to enjoy our countries.
