Is it good for people to live in high-rise building?

Nowadays, it seems that more and more people decide to choose a high-rise residence instead of a conventional low-rise building. Not only is it an economical solution, which helps to save leafy areas in the city, but it is also a great way of overcoming the problem of rapid increase among the urban population. But is it good for people to live in high-rise buildings? In my view, the numerous benefits certainly outweigh the disadvantages.

To begin with, the high-rise buildings to satisfy the people’s needs are placed in close proximity to urban amenities, along with the green areas. Therefore, a wide range of restaurants, shops and transportation hubs is placed within the walking distance from the building. Nevertheless, there is also enough outdoor space for children to play, and ample parks to wind-down in. Such easy access to various facilities certainly simplifies city dwellers’ life to a great extent. Secondly, high-rise buildings are provided with exquisite security, as they are always under surveillance. Were someone to commit any kind of felony, it certainly would not come unnoticed. Thus, the residents do not have to worry about any thefts or break-in.

Notwithstanding the benefits, some people do not consider a high-rise building to be a suitable place for them. One of the disadvantages is the large network of neighbours, which may be overwhelming, as well as lead to disturbance. However, that does not necessarily have to be a drawback. Provided that someone is tolerant and kind to others, they will most probably adjust to the new environment and improve their social life. It is also often said that pets are banned in high-rise buildings. While this may be true in some cases, finding a flat which allows keeping an animal should not be a problem.

While living in high-rise buildings has some drawbacks, it certainly entails a plethora of benefits. Living near urban amenities, as well as the provided security certainly outweigh the minor disadvantages. Hence, I believe living in a high-rise building is a great way to simplify people’s everyday life, as well as improve their social life.
