Essay

The given chart indicates the different number of incidents that came about in three particular areas of crime in New Port city centre in the period of 2003 to 2012.

In general, all three areas of crime showed a fluctuating rates throughout the years. But only burglary displayed the most significant fall while the others remained quite stable.

In details, it can be seen easily that in 2003, burglary had the highest number of incidents, approximately 3500 cases. It reached around 3700 cases in 2004 then fell down considerably from 2004 to 2008 when its number of incidents was only about 1300, the lowest rate. 4 years later, it didn’t change much and finished the year 2012 with 1400 cases.

Apart from burglary, car theft and robbery didn’t show any remarkably changes. While robbery’s rate never reached 1000 cases and always fluctuated over 600 and 900 cases, car theft’s rate decreased quite sharply from 2005 to 2008. After that, it remained steady with no more than 2700 cases.
