Essay:

Sport at school has been a controversial topic for a long time due to the benefits of sports itself and benefits of sport for students. There are valid arguments for and against sport compulsory at school, which I will discuss now.

Some people point out that sport is a waste of time since time could be better spent on academic activities such as test preparation, extra classes, or class projects. Furthermore, not all kids good at sports; therefore, forcing children to do something they are not good at or not interesting at is unwise. Compulsory sport at school objectors also add that sport industry sets bad examples for future generations since sport includes drugging, corruptions, and scandals.

On the other hand, there is one major and undeniable benefit of sport is that it helps build children’s physical strength during an important stage of development. In addition, sports are the most healthy recreational activity which allows students to relax after classes. Finally, doing sports forges skills that will be later required. For instance, the competitive spirit, group working skills are important in life could be learned through sport games.

In conclusion, I personally feel that sports’ physical and mental positive impacts outweigh its possible negative impacts, so sports in school should be compulsory. This is as long as sport activities remain interesting for children and honest.
