Through five months I (work) at the Centre for Technology Information in (BKSP) of UKM. I have gained so much knowledge that I cannot obtain in the classes or lectures because the experiences are different between the theory that I studied in course lessons. Industrial training for five months have taught me a lot about the real experience when working. Indirect representation of the environment and the work that I would pass after graduation in this polytechnic. Training is very practical to stimuli and for my confidence to tackle more challenging career later.
During the training industry, I was placed in the user support services, Information Technology, UKM, I was exposed to a task or job as a technician. However, I was also exposed to areas such as the division and other parts of the network, database and multimedia. Hence, my knowledge is not limited only to repair the computer.
User support services division work act as a user request either for software or hardware change or upgrade the computer, as well as providing computer repair services and other electronic equipments such as printers, scanners and so on. So my jobs are repairing the computer and install the software requested by the user. In addition, I also do work to update and take the computer items. If a program requires a computer that is responsible for the bksp provide computer services. Therefore, the computer and the Internet should be maintained in the area or any area involved. Any program that I engaged the consumer and the election day at UKM.
In addition, the uses of software, hardware, and repair techniques were unknown. Among the techniques of 'ghost', the software I use is Aesus. There were two ways to copy a hard disk provided software. Examples of hardware is the hard disk reader. Computer received from different models and brands, that I can recognize and learn various methods of repair for some specific computer models that cannot be repaired in the normal way. Computer models that I had received were March Apple, Dell, HP, Asus and others. Different operating systems also provide the knowledge that different to me. All unknown information are obtained from the manual, the Internet and other sources. Advices and teaching from other staffs are my primary source.
Parts of the network is a central control system of the Internet, firewalls and others. But all data and information relating to UKMs and security systems located at the mainframe data including UKMs. These computers do not put the network is divided because the network is to control entry and exit data through it. In addition, the demand for Internet use, reports of damage or failure of Internet access are also made by this section.
Although I posted on the network for three weeks, many things that I can learned. Among them are, I have been tested in several centers and colleges CCTV in the vicinity of UKMs and make a few brief report. I also try and install network equipment that is damaged or for the addition. Some new hardware devices and have tried to install and function properly. Methods to control and configure the network I have learned. There are various methods and software can be used, although the actual concept of understanding and difficult to understand, in some way and the correct technique when doing the work I do to the network.
There are short courses that join me the practice in this Information Technology Centre. These courses are reserved for employees of UKMs who are interested. The courses that I have followed are IT-talk windows 7, adobe photoshop, indesign, Illustrator, open office and joomla. All courses are very useful for students like me to be more knowledgeable about science that can not be obtained in polytechnics. I have also been tasked to review and report on learning the software.
Experiences and learning during the training industry are very different from learning in class that emphasizes understanding the theory more than practical. Working environment can also be felt. Ethics and rules at work can be practiced even if only temporarily as a student practical work. All of the areas of occupational exposure are very helpful to me. Overall I am very satisfied with the cooperation and guidance of the HRD. I really appreciate all the knowledge and education that I got from PTM. I am also grateful to the polytechnic for giving me the opportunity to undergo industrial training session. Experience while working in the HRD will not forget me, but will I learn during my working life to wait until the end.
