'Starts' or 'stars'? I assume the latter. Just a typo, right?

Hey, I like William Shatner! I love watching him in Star Trek episodes and movies. He's also a great comedian (eg: 'Big Giant Head' in '3rd Rock from the Sun')! There's a commercial on TV here in the States where a woman dreams she's dancing (Irish 'River Dance' style) in a row of about a dozen William Shatners. The look the William Shatner right next to her gives her is absolutely priceless!

Thanks for the movie "warning", though. I'll watch out for it.

I speak Esperanto and attend an Esperanto conversation group in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The movie you make reference to above is Incubus.* I have seen a clip on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show." Shatner's accent was atrocious. It appears that the actors were given scripts in the language but were not instructed on how to speak it. On the other hand, the Esperanto in *Idiot's Delight(1) was fine, although it was annoying when the closed captioning referred to it on a couple of occasions as Italian!

(1) An antiwar movie with Clark Gable--who sings and dances "Puttin' on the Ritz."

I caught it on video tape some months ago, and have never got around to watching it. Maybe I'll take it to a UK(1) to show around, if there's ever one in Phoenix.

I've been sitting here wondering whether the second line is a translation of the first, and my conclusion is that it's not. Indeed, I read the second line before its English translation, and reached an entirely different interpretation.

Is it acceptable to start an Esperanto sentence with 'kaj'? It works in English, but it looks wrong in Esperanto.

Is there a difference between "etan ideon" and "ideeton"? Enquiring minds are totally confused.

I'm not sufficiently fluent in Esperanto to know the answers to these questions, but I'm more than suspicious that a word-for-word translation from English is going to make sense.
