especially/specially dogs

Studies show that pets can do good to people. People who keep pets, especially/specially dogs, seem to live longer.

Researches indicate that pets may be helpful/beneficial to people. Those who raise pets, dogs in particular, seem to enjoy a longer life span.

Do both of the above two samples sound right and mean pretty much the same? Thanks.

Yes, you can say that, or you could simply say "seem to live longer".

One more comment:
I wouldn't say "raise pets". I'd use the word 'raise' with something more specific. For example:
- raise children
- raise/breed chihuahuas
- raise/breed horses

With the word 'pets' it would be more natural to use 'have' or 'keep'.
