Especially/ specially?

I use 'especially' more often, to express some preference among different things and I use 'specially' talking about an only thing.

e.g.
I like all threads in this forum, especially Discussion Topics.
I recommended specially this forum to my friends.

I don't think there's much of a difference. I use them interchangeably, but hopefully I am using them correctly.

I would say this:
"I had these sandals specially made for my small feet."
BUT: "I especially like this brand of mustard."
Basically, I use "specially" when I mean "in a special way," and I use "especially" when I mean "particularly."

Kitkattai's explanation sounds sound, but I will probably continue using especially, especially when I want to add special emphasis.

I would say "especially" is the most commonly used.

In addition, because especially begins with a vowel, it is often easier to utter.
Note that the words do have different meanings;
Special; Peculiar, restricted, particular or exceptional. Not generally applicable, prevalent or occuring.
Especial; Pre-eminent, more than ordinary or particular.

Especially and specially can often both be used with the same meaning.
It was not (e)specially cold.
Especially is used to mean 'above all'
I play a lot of soccer, especially on Sundays.
It rains a lot, especially in the South.
I like all types of fruit. especially bananas.

Especially follows a subject.
All my family like music. My grandmother, especially,
