I heard French is the UN 'base' language, because it is more precise than English. Is this also because English has to be more flexible in order to accommodate approximate/incorrect use of the language? Or is it also because the French Academy was established to ensure it would not be 'corrupted' by easier forms and other kinds of innovations?
