Peter Jackson said "The original Kong is a wonderful blend - probably the most perfect blend - of escapism and adventure, mystery and romance. It does everything an escapist movie should do: it takes you places you are never going to see and gives you experiences you are never going to have."

I saw it on some junk mail we got last night, and I couldn't quit looking at it. I even thought the special effects people deserve and acting award for this picture.

[nq:1]The famous spider sequence never made it into the finished print, I believe. Not that Jackson did much with it in this version..[/nq]
I think the movie is a perfect example of trying to equate more with better. The insect scene was a bore because it went so far over the top.
