Escaping through the back door

1) I kicked him escaping through the back door.

2) I kicked the thief escaping through the back door.

3) I kicked him, escaping through the back door.

4) I kicked the thief, escaping through the back door.

5) I shot at him escaping through the back door.

6) I shot at him, escaping through the back door.

Which would work if he/the thief was escaping through the back door and not I?

Gratefully,

Navi
